Assistant Manager, Maintenance
Job Description
The incumbent supervises and coordinates the work of the employees within the department. He is also responsible for managing the services and processes that fall within the company’s core business as well as participating in strategic planning and daily operations, including the company’s production equipment.
Responsibilities
1. Perform the sorting of daily work requests to be planned in the department’s computer system (CMMS: Computerized Maintenance Management System).
2. Plan and organize the activities of each shift, assign work orders, supervise the activities of the department employees (mechanics, electromechanics, electrotechnicians and machining operators); monitor and verify the quality of the work.
3. Respond appropriately during production emergencies in collaboration with supervisors and other department managers to minimize equipment downtime.
4. Ensure the implementation of the preventive and predictive maintenance program for production equipment and their auxiliary systems in collaboration with the supervisor or planner.
5. Maintain the backlog of preventive maintenance to a minimum in the CMMS.
6. Perform and monitor service calls to ensure minimal disruption of production activities.
7. Welcome, register and accompany subcontractors on site; explain and lead their activities.
8. Implement company health and safety, cleanliness and sanitary policies and procedures within the department to ensure a safe work environment and to achieve health and safety goals.
9. Evaluate the training needs of technicians in collaboration with the department manager.
10. Collaborate on internal and external audits with the quality assurance department and implement corrective measures as needed (Corrective Action Preventive Action System: CAPA).
11. Lead, train, develop and discipline employees to ensure their competence within the department and to maintain a high level of productivity.
12. Establish goals with the department manager to improve the efficiency of the department.
13. Perform all other duties as required by the immediate superior.
Qualifications
➢ Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent specialization.
➢ University degree is an asset.
➢ A combination of education, experience, knowledge and skills will be considered.
➢ Five to ten years of relevant experience in a similar position.
➢ Technical knowledge of maintenance methods for mechanical and electrical systems as well as a CMMS system (Maximo, iMaint, MicroMain, etc.).
➢ Acquired knowledge of non-destructive inspection methods (X-ray, vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.).
➢ Knowledge of value-added production concepts, the 5S system as well as International Standards Organization (ISO) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.
➢ Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
➢ Functional bilingualism (French and English).
